Retired people( of all ages) who are making their new life here in Estepona and want to learn the language, meet like-minded people, and be part of a community that offers so much more than just learning. Digital nomads ( of all ages) who work from home but want to integrate through language and cultural understanding. Couples who want to learn together but may have different learning styles and/or levels…. beware we may separate you for an hour or two each week! Individuals who are living here and want to learn the language and also meet people to practice their new skills with. People for whom a strict being “talked at completely in Spanish” school room style of teaching doesn’t work. Visitors and tourists who are passing through the costa del sol for a week, a month, or 3 months and want to utilise the opportunity to learn a little Spanish or brush up on what they already know. We pride ourselves in our welcoming and inviting academy here at Spanish in Estepona. Our ethos of a safe and welcoming environment where all students regardless of origin, sexual orientation, religion, gender, or age are encouraged to give it a go! We value the fact that learning a new language is the thread that gives us our connection and brings us together. Respect and tolerance is at the core of our classes and group settings for students and tutors alike. We celebrate our students success no matter what their goal, big or small. It could be to speak to a neighbour, to order a meal, to tell a joke, to understand a song, to become confident enough to have a conversation with a stranger, to go up from level A1 – B2, to pass an exam, to get a new job, to become fluent..etc..etc..

Extra-curricular activities: Intercambio. Our fun time outside the academy consists of a monthly intercambio on the last Friday of each month. This takes place at a local bar and is a super night, where we come together as a group of learners, of different levels and languages to practice our spoken Spanish or English. We have Spanish speakers here at Spanish in Estepona learning English, and the intercambio is a great way for lots of the students to meet each other and create friendships outside their specific class group. This evening gives all students regardless of their level an opportunity to practice speaking in a safe and social setting, amongst other learners. Our basic beginners get to speak with students who understand how uncomfortable it can feel at first, to try to speak in your new language. Our more advanced learners love being able to chat about different topics with other students and native speakers. Culture NIghts: Peña Flamencia show. Normally held on a Friday evening, once per term. We attend as a group to enjoy a night of Flamenco singing, guitarists and dancers. This takes place at the local Flamenco club which has a bar and food options available. Before this evening the teachers use the event to explain some of the different language, culture and experiences expected on the night. As students, you enjoy it more when you have an understanding of what the songs and the dance represent and the history behind one of Andalusia’s most famous traditions. All extra-curricular activities are paid for directly by students and any food or drinks purchased at events are the responsibility of the individual and not of Spanish in Estepona.
